About me: I was born in Denver, double majored in math and physics at University of Colorado at Boulder, taught mathematics for two years at Mapleton Early College, and am now in the MACSME program preparing to teach high school mathematics in the bay area. I am a lover of music, film, books, travel and am particularly interested in being a wacky guy.

Interests: While I am still making sense of the tangled branches of educational research, I am generally interested in math perception, design-based research, situated cognition and critical pedagogy (though not necessarily in that order). For my master's thesis I am studying how students think about steepness and designing instructional materiel intended to guide them build from their initial ideas. I also have the help of the SLOPE crew: Anna, Amit and Jose, and I am eternally grateful for their critical support.
