About Me:  I'm a first year doctoral student in the EMST program. I'm originally from Cathedral City, California, but lived in Los Angeles for five years before coming to Berkeley. I graduated in '05 from UCLA with a BS in mathematics and spent the next two years working as an architect in Los Angeles. I'm also an avid rock climber, and this past summer I spent two weeks in Squamish, BC --can't wait to go back! I climb at Berkeley Ironworks a couple nights a week, and try to go outdoors on the weekends.

Research Interests:  My research foci are mathematics education and cognition, and addressing social-cultural issues that affect the learning of students of color.

Current Projects:  Cross-domain survey of problem-solving strategies. I'm examining explicit as well as implicit aspects of professional practice in the disciplines of math, music, and rock-climbing.
