About me: I am a National Board Certified High School Mathematics teacher in San Francisco. I have been teaching for 6 years at public schools in the Bayview Hunter’s Point community. I love my job because I get to work with young people everyday and see the incredible growth over long stretches of time– overcoming both personal challenges as well as mathematical struggles. Aside from the work that I do locally, I am also involved with the national Algebra Project, which is a civil rights movement of educators, activists, and young people focused on increasing math literacy for our most underserved groups of students. In our pursuit of making quality education a constitutional right for all students, we strive to engage stakeholders at every level–from policy in Congress to curriculum in the classroom. In addition to all of that, I am also a Math for America Master Teacher in the Berkeley program and have been fortunate enough to spend my summer with this research group. I am also married with no children and enjoy spending time with my wife outside, taking photos, and editing videos.
